Thashlin leads the foundation’s university success work in South Africa. As part of the portfolio, he directs Dell Young Leaders scholarship program which seeks to dramatically increase the number of first-generation university students that get to graduation and onto successful career paths. While at the foundation, Thashlin has advised leaders, governments, corporates, and philanthropic organizations on innovative approaches that enables holistic student support.
Prior to joining the foundation in 2011, Thashlin worked as a consultant in the telecommunications and industrial sector. He completed his community service at Itemoheng District Hospital in the Free State province, and previously served as a board member on the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Thashlin has master’s degrees in public health, epidemiology and biomedical sciences, as well as a Ph.D from Stellenbosch University.
