Christmas Day will mark exactly four months since Hurricane Harvey made landfall and unleashed its wrath across Texas. The road to recovery is a long one, but the Rebuild Texas Fund is in it for the long-term.
We have been working closely with leaders in government, education, business and nonprofits to identify unmet needs across all the affected communities. We have been collaborating with other funding partners – public and private – to gather data and coordinate efforts. And we have been spending time on the ground in communities, listening and learning directly from teachers, families, small business owners and children.
It’s heartbreaking to see the devastation and to hear the stories of families and communities still struggling to rebuild from the storm. And it makes our mission of providing the greatest possible impact even more important, so that we can help the affected communities come back stronger than ever.
Here is the story of the Rebuild Texas Fund so far, and some of the communities and families we are serving. We’re in this together and we’re just getting started.
