Children who are neglected, abused or in foster care require an exceptional level of care and compassion. Entry into the system can be difficult. Many children arrive at shelters, treatment centers and foster homes traumatized, resentful, injured or ill. Some are aggressive.
But crossing the threshold into these temporary homes can be the beginning of a profoundly positive transformation that allows these children to experience positive, loving and consistent relationships with adult caregivers for the first time.
The Dell family foundation places special emphasis on helping the most vulnerable children of our own Central Texas community, funding a local network of programs that offer a cohesive system of care and healing. The organizations we support provide a continuum of services, including:
-
Provision of emergency items when a child is removed from the home
-
Court case advocacy for children involved in child protective services
-
Counseling
-
Short term shelter services
-
Residential treatment programs for severe cases in which children need more therapeutic care
-
Support for foster teens aging out of the system
-
Adoption services
STRATEGY
Our goal is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Central Texas children. Our strategy is to fund a range of programs that address the needs of at-risk children, including those who reside with child protective services, or in foster care and residential treatment facilities.
