The state of Texas has the highest number of uninsured people in the U.S. In Central Texas alone:
- Forty percent of economically disadvantaged families lack health care coverage
- Almost 25 percent of children up to 18 are uninsured
- Uninsured children and youth are four times more likely to delay necessary care and five times more likely to use emergency rooms as a regular resource for care
We seek to ensure that low income families in Central Texas get better access to quality, affordable health care. We support innovative clinics that offer:
- Extended evening and weekend hours
- Resources that link patients and families to basics such as health insurance
- Locations convenient to high need communities
- Management of chronic diseases like asthma, childhood obesity, and mental health
- Community-specific linguistic abilities and intervention programs
STRATEGY
We fund local organizations that significantly improve access to quality healthcare services for low-income and uninsured children and their families in Central Texas.
