Through its Teaching As Leadership approach and online resource, Teach For America equips corps members to achieve greater than expected academic progress with their students. In the 2007-2008 academic year, 65 percent of corps members in their second year of teaching and 55 percent of corps members in their first year were able effect solid or significant academic gains, moving students through a year or more of material and knowledge to help them catch up with their peers in other communities.
