Sprouting Healthy Kids

Sustainable Food Center cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food.  Founded in 1993, the agency has roots dating back more than 30 years as Austin Community Gardens.  Through organic food gardening, relationships with area farmers, interactive cooking classes or school- or community-based nutrition programming, SFC strives to increase access to locally grown food and are to empower children and families to improve their long-term health status and the health status of the Central Texas community.

With an obesity epidemic challenging every community across the United States, this Austin-based community and school intervention program is a making a measured difference in the lives of children.
