XY-Zone Male Involvement Program: Reaching At-Risk Males
With high school drop-out rates unacceptably high in many Austin, Texas-area schools, combating the drop-out trend is one of the toughest issues facing the community. The Communities in Schools XY-Zone Male Involvement Program has created an innovative approach to reducing drop-out rates by focusing on the needs of male students, who are more likely to drop out than female students, and providing opportunities for these young men to redefine their futures. The leadership development and peer support program teaches productive life skills in high school-age, at-risk males, encouraging them to stay in school and helping them prepare for the future.
