I totally disagree with the idea that if you tell me to use data to drive my instruction, you’re also telling me I can’t be creative. Education data shows us where the students are weak, and what we need to do as educators to turn that around. And that to me opens the whole door of creativity.

I totally disagree with the idea that if you tell me to use data to drive my instruction, you’re also telling me I can’t be creative. Education data shows us where the students are weak, and what we need to do as educators to turn that around. And that to me opens the whole door of creativity.
If we’re serious about education reform, we must do more than focus on either/or prescriptions for reform (charter vs. district, traditional vs. blended, innovation-focus vs. accountability-fouces, etc.), and focus on equipping real world teachers with the supports and tools they need to do their best work with every child every day.
