AUSTIN, Texas – The Thanksgiving spirit kicked off early today as the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation expressed thanks to 33 local organizations working to improve the lives of children in the Central Texas area. The Dell family foundation delivered these one time, surprise grants totaling $825,000 to show gratitude for the grantees’ measurable impact locally, particularly during a difficult economic environment in which to operate as a nonprofit.

Each grantee received a $25,000 grant with a plaque expressing the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation’s recognition and appreciation.

“This giving season is a good time to provide extra support to our long-term grantees who have struggled to raise money in a difficult economic environment,” said Susan Dell, chair and co-founder of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. “We know that many of our current grantees have unexpected gaps in their operating budgets.
