Green Dot Public Schools is leading the charge to transform public education in the Los Angeles area to ensure that all children receive the opportunity for a quality education in order to be successful in college, leadership, and life.

Founded in 1999, Green Dot was created in direct response to the terrible state of public high schools in L.A., which were failing to graduate more than half of their students. Green Dot currently operates 12 successful charter high schools in the highest-need areas of the city.

Green Dot’s model focuses on creating small public school environments that are more conducive to learning, supporting teachers to teach creatively, encouraging parents to be involved, and helping students learn. As a result, more than two-thirds of Green Dot graduates eventually go on to four-year colleges or universities, compared to only one-quarter of Los Angeles Unified School District graduates.

Green Dot has seen an 80 percent high school graduation rate in neighborhoods where 50 – 70 percent of students typically drop out.
