The Dell Scholars Program Announces the 2005 Dell Scholars

The Dell Scholars program is a need-based scholarship for motivated high school students participating in an approved AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. It recognizes and rewards a student’s determination to overcome obstacles and achieve goals through higher education. The Dell Scholars program is an initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. The 2005 application period closed March 15, 2005 and the 2005 were announced on May 25, 2005.
Applications were evaluated based on an AVID student’s individual determination to succeed; the student’s future goals and plans to achieve those goals and, the student's ability to overcome hardships and to complete challenging high school coursework. The student must have a demonstrated need for financial assistance.
Over 1500 applications were received. 160 students have been chosen to be the 2005 Dell Scholars.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation wishes all those students who applied much success in their educational endeavors and congratulates those students selected to receive this scholarship.
