Grant Officer, Microfinance Team

JOB DESCRIPTION

Independently build and lead a grant portfolio that delivers measurable (and sustainable) positive impact on children, play a senior, leadership role in several of the foundation’s activities in India, facilitate the overall program implementation of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in India and emerge as a thought leader for the foundation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the development of the India country strategy

Support the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation India team in developing and updating a detailed, fact-based, action-oriented country strategy that is focused on positively changing the outcomes of underprivileged urban slum children in a measurable, large-scale and sustainable manner through making grants in primary education, vocational training, and water & sanitation/health projects

Strategy implementation
Help implement strategy by building relationships (jointly, as well as independently) with a variety of potential grantees at several levels and in varying agreed-upon geographies, and working with them to create new grants, engage in the problem-solving, administer them, monitor and report results – manage the entire process relatively independently (with fanatical attention to detail), while in close collaboration with both the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation India and Austin teams, in order to develop a successful program in India

Networking
Network with a large number of NGOs, multilateral/ bilateral agencies, corporate bodies, Government functionaries and thought leaders to discuss possible areas of work, ensure full inclusion for Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in the “deal flow”, and enhance the capability and reputation of the foundation as an organization that supports high impact programs 

Internal Operations
Fully participate in, lead (as appropriate) and facilitate all internal processes of the global foundation, including administrative tasks, while adhering to all reporting norms of the foundation in order to build and support an efficient office infrastructure

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience
Masters degree in business, development economics or education from a leading university. 10 or more years’ experience, recently leading/managing complex, integrated projects with clear impact measures, in the multinational corporate, or in top rated Indian/International developmental organizations. Sector Understanding Prior knowledge of the development sector in India, particularly education, and associated pedagogical research, or teaching experience desirable, but not essential.
